Recycling Old Computers
Recycle IT – computers 4 Africa
Computers 4 Africa (a working title of Digital Pipeline) is a UK registered charity. Supplying schools, hospitals and community projects across Africa with donated IT equipment. As a Microsoft Registered Refurbisher we clean, upgrade and install standardised programmes and an operating system prior to shipping and recycling old computers. All memory devices are securely data wiped (up to Ministry of Defence standards).
C4A provide a convenient and sustainable way to dispose of e-waste. One of their core values is Reuse and Repurpose rather than recycle. On average C4A can add up to five years to the life expectancy of a PC. Its not only beneficial to people in Africa but an environmentally sound way to dispose of your unwanted IT equipment. C4A are fully WEEE compliant and employ a 0% to landfill policy.
Donating and recycling old computers to C4A contributes to your Corporate Social Responsibility targets, because all working equipment is supplied to people across Africa. Your redundant computers can make a huge difference; a student in Africa who has studied using a PC can go on to earn up to 3 times the national average.
‘Change a child’s life when you change your PC.’
Due to UK donations last year 148,080 children benefited from access to technology for the first time. Students are now being trained as technicians and the digital divide has got just that bit narrower. Here in the UK C4A provide a free of charge IT disposal service and across Africa, transforming lives and improving education with increased career opportunities.
