Another Week in Lockdown

Summary of another week in lockdown
Here we are with the weekend approaching us and apparently the weather will lift our spirits with sunshine and warmth.
The week at J & J Systems is looking like it will close with a calmer feeling about it. With most clients already working from home in one form or another where possible. Our IT support calls continue to be based around remote IT access, VPN connections and internet speeds.
Glyn’s Bite Size IT Training Sessions
The daily Bite Size IT training sessions have proved successful with Glyn entertaining attendees with his normal cheesy humour and of course some good tips on Excel, Word and Outlook. Next week he is planning to have a focus on Excel Training for Monday and Tuesday, including Email Merges using Word/Excel & Outlook.
We are now using the secure Cisco WebEx for these – which you can join each day using the same link.
Glyn will happily take requests for the areas you fancy, just drop him a line & he will build that into his Microsoft Training schedules – glyn.brooks@jjsystems.co.uk
Client Calls
I am continuing to give our client list a call, working through a few a day to get a feel for how the crisis is affecting us all and what our business owners feel the impact on the future will be.
This week the talk is of ‘furlough’ – a word which had never been in my dictionary before COVID-19 & today my accountant was explaining the next new term of ‘cocooning’.
My overall feeling is that the business community is expecting this situation to extend into May and June, with the repercussions taking much longer to unravel. In the main our clients remain optimistic for the coming months that they will emerge with new ideas, strategies for business and a stronger outlook.
Trusted Sources
I would urge everyone to seek advice from trusted sources, the Government sites, accountants and finance specialists, not relying on Facebook tittle-tattle. Our accountant has been proactive with regular updates and information we have been kept informed of developments through these strange times.
Scams & Virus Infection
Due to the increase in internet traffic, heightened emotion & use of insecure machines, along with the lack of care over software employed we are expecting an increase in scams and virus infections – I urge you to take a great deal of care over your ‘clicks’. I would also suggest that if you receive a ‘chain text’ or ‘medical advice’ unless you can verify it’s source, then do not continue to forward it.

Weekend Ahead
There are so many new activities coming online, with the National Theatre streaming shows & West End Musicals having their own YouTube Channel – the first being tonight at 7pm, kicking off our weekend with Donny Osmond in Joseph – an all time favourite.
This weekend is one for those with gardens to spend weeding or reading outside & my sympathies will be with those inside without that option.
Ill write a further blog early next week & if you are interested you can catch them in our News & my own Jacqui’s SoapBox on our website – you can find here; https://jjsys.uk/S04P
Stay safe & our best wishes,
