Dementia Friends 2016 Session
2016 Dementia Friends – a Small Step
Dementia Friends 2016 – As part of our efforts to support the Alzheimer’s Society and to be prepared for Dementia Awareness Week 2016. J & J Systems are undertaking to ask our staff if they would like to become Dementia Friends.
This initiative is championed by the Alzheimer’s Society to bring a little more understanding. Providing general information to a wider audience with regards to Dementia in society and the small ways which individuals can help, or make a difference.
This programme is the biggest ever initiative to change people’s perceptions of dementia. It aims to transform the way the nation thinks, acts and talks about the condition. Dementia Friends was launched to tackle the stigma and lack of understanding. That has meant many people with the condition experience loneliness and social exclusion.
What will we do?
J & J Systems will run two Dementia Friends 2016 Information Sessions on Friday April 29th . We would like to invite you to register for one of the sessions. Join us for a small buffet lunch either right after, or right before the session you choose.
There will be four guest seats available on each session. These seats will be allocated on a first come, first served basis, so please do let us know as soon as possible if you would like to come along. I appreciate that it means taking time from your schedule. I thought you might like to come and see the office & meet the whole team, if time would allow.
- Session 1. 11:15-12:15 – 1 Seat Left
- Buffet Lunch 12:30-13: 30
- Session 2. 13:45-14:45 – 3 Seats Left
Each session will be run by Nicky Thompson, a Community Development Officer with Canterbury City Council, who is a volunteer Dementia Friends Champion. Each Information Session lasts around one hour. You will learn more about dementia and how you can help to create dementia friendly communities.
